Bethel City Help
Bethel City help was a project of NorthWest Missions in Kisumu, Kenya, Africa. Bethel City helped to provide housing and food support to widows and orphans. The project was based at Kisumu in the western part of Kenya. All these regions are geographically very poor by nature and badly affected by the drought which is currently affecting much of Kenya and is potentially very disastrous to those in the area. The AIDS pandemic has largely contributed to the number of starving, homeless orphans you find in the city of Kisumu.
Most of the children were totally desperate and either lived on the streets, with strangers they had never known and who were scarcely able to contribute to their care and support. Some children lived on their own, cooking their own meals from whatever they could scavenge and sometimes chewing sugar cane as their only food. Most of these children were aged between 6 months to 16 years and the majority were overdue for school. Many others were dropped from school because of a lack of school fees. Many of these children needed medical attention, but there was no one to see that they received the medical care they needed. Their living conditions were very poor while many children walked naked or wore rags even when it was very cold, sleeping on the side of the streets or where ever they fell asleep, most had no shoes.
Bethel City Help was able to help support these children and give them hope for tomorrow. These children were fed, clothed, given medical attention, educated and given a chance to learn a vocation.
We were able make a difference to these lovely children by helping support them through your donations to NorthWest Missions, Bethel City help in Kisumu, Kenya, Africa.
